A leading Catholic scholar claimed that alleged alien abductions stories have parallels with people who say they have encountered demons.
Theologian Dr Paul Thigpen went on to add that aliens are in fact more than likely " demons ".
He also said that the US government know more than they publicly state in relation to UAPs ('Unexplained Aerial Phenomena' - a US military term for UFOs ).
Dr Thigpen told the National Catholic Register: “With UAP we may actually be dealing with extraordinary phenomena of various origins despite similar characteristics.
“Extra-terrestrial hypothesis – the notion that we are encountering non-human intelligences from locations in this universe beyond Earth - best accounts for many UAP.
“The diabolical hypothesis – that they are demons – best accounts for some UAP reports, especially some of the so-called alien abductions’ that demonstrate clear parallels with what the Church knows as demonic encounters.”
These comments come after the US government last year reported on 144 UFO sightings by military pilots since 2004, with only one being explained away as a balloon and the rest "largely inconclusive".

Post script: I am not Catholic. My opinion of the Church is not affected by my opinion of the Pope (is he even Catholic or Christian?).
Omg, now demonizing aliens they don’t even see..
Why can’t man just say, I have no clue but God does!!
📖
BTW Dr. Nolan is a religious agnostic.
Good idea for science fiction narrative.
I thought that was the definition for Democrats.
This is one of those threads Quix (RIP) would love.
He believed this theory and was very passionate about debating it with anyone who wanted to
Demon manifestations.
No, they’re demonizing the ones that have been seen.
But are aliens pedophile globalist Satan worshipers? I’d take my chances with ET before believing anything coming out of Rome.
And, yes, he was passionate about this theory.;-)
"Quix, if you are there, please come in..."
There is a solid faction of good Catholics still on the scene. Archbishop Vigano is one (Carlo Maria Viganò is an archbishop of the Catholic Church who served as the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States from 19 October 2011 to 12 April 2016).
Quix passed a few days ago.
I’m an agnostic on the aliens but know there are things that can’t be explained in earthly terms. The demonic aspect of seems to make the most sense, IMHO.
Former Freeper “Quix” (active Freeper through 2012) has passed.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
After they returned home from deployment, these men and women have had paranormal experiences some of which are quite disturbing (orbs and beings--including grays--appearing in their homes through walls, poltergeist experiences, etc.). This kind of experience is so common it has acquired the name of "hitchhiker effect."
One former Naval cryptographer aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt has gone public with his story (see Matthew Roberts).
Of course, I have no idea if these accounts are real or imagined. That said, I find them interesting.;-)
Luckily for Quix (as unique as he was), he was a devout believer.
Still, sorry to hear this news.
But at least he has gone home!
As many folks (particular scientists and former military) are saying lately, encounters of all sorts seem to be ramping up FWIW.
Wonder if there is a connection with the Woke/LGBTQ insanity spreading among humans.;-)
