So.... I guess if your bank calls you, hang up and call the bank to make sure it’s them?
That's always good advice when you get a call from a bank or some other entity with financial involvement. Any credit card has the bank's number on the back of the card so it's always handy.

Once you pick up the phone that has rung, the computer on the other end affirms that it is an active line. Then immediately, they go into the next mode when they can seek out all of your banking and credit info.

Best thing to do, IMHO, is compel them to leave a message, which they will very rarely ever do. (Do not answer those calls.) Call that NEVER.

I am now using accounts with no on line access. Stay away from the big National Banks. CitiBank, Wells Fargo, Bank Of America etc., ..get away from those monsters.

Use smaller banks, make deposits in person, keep a low credit line.
