I find Charlie’s “flicking” gesture before he sits down to be more infuriating—a dismissive gesture, not only about the object but the person whose duty it is to remove it.
I’ve known a few people who have this dismissive attitude toward people in service positions, like waiters and waitresses. It totally changed my opinion of them.

I saw a documentary a few years ago about the royals (intentionally lowercase).
One segment focused on the kitchen staff located at a lodge where prince chuck went fox hunting. They talked about how he insisted on his breakfast being served immediately following his fox hunt. The scene showed the kitchen staff furiously cooking and dumping hard-boiled eggs while another kept a lookout for his arrival. The mandate required they have the eggs ready to serve immediately upon his arrival BUT NO MORE THAN 2 MINUTES OLD. So they ended up trashing about 20 eggs before they landed upon the group that fit within the narrow time window. @ss!
