Ring of Power is just generic D&D.
There is nothing Tolkienish about this show.
K-Mart of Fantasy
I had no idea that they hadn’t bought the rights to The Silmarillion. Pennywise and pound foolish. What is the point of making stuff up when what people want are the stories of the Silmarillon.
I won’t be watching.
Three(!) brave and powerful female leads while the males of each race just stand around? Nope.
I agree that the way the elves are portrayed is it’s biggest weakness. The black elf is as stupid as making a movie about African tribes and making some characters white.
The elves are a race, not a nation. And it is even mentioned that it is almost unheard of for them to date outside their race.
Humans, absolutely could be any race. Maybe... dwarves and even hobbit-type creatures, but not elves set apart.
I watched the first two episodes.
It’s okay so far and way too early to form much of a judgment about the series as they are still setting up the story line.
There was only one Tolkien.
Jackson’s mashup was bad enough. I will affirmatively avoid this one.
Not just black as in dark complected, black as in Negroid. There's a difference. Negroid Hobbits, too. Ranks right up there with Negroid Vulcans in Star Trek.
It’s okay so far and way too early to form much of a judgment about the series as they are still setting up the story line....."
Two episodes was 4x what I needed to recognize it as Wokester indoctrination propaganda and switch it off.
Going by the advertisements, I’m touching that garbage with a ten foot pole.
Blinded by her need to confront and end Sauron, she puts the lives of elves under her command at risk. Galadriel, who is of noble lineage, is ambitious, not stupid. Her squad of elves is chasing a supremely evil character. Their lives are at risk by definition. Who wrote this crap? a coddled millennial missing his “safe space”? While not the best fantasy I’ve ever seen, I found it entertaining and definitely more in the spirit of Tolkien than the Hobbit movie’s amusement park ride and orc vendetta.
Don’t we have enough shopping networks?
I’m not sure it’s a good idea to buy rings from tv shows.
You could end up getting glass.
Another woke feminist sermon.
Gag me.
The problem is Tolkein already wrote the story of The Rings of Power. It’s the third part of The Silmarillion, and the events therein are already laid out in exquisite detail. Not only is Amazon’s abomination making up different events, it is depicting characters with known histories acting completely out of character and doing things they never did. This isn’t like filling in the 18 years of Luke Skywalker’s childhood where we have no details, or doing a series that explores how Indiana Jones went from idealistic Eagle Scout to cynical professor. There are no real gaps in Galadriel’s history.
Like I said it’s fiction. Tolkien wrote it one way and if that’s what you want read it in Christopher Tolkien’s somewhat turgid words. The writers took a theme and wrote their adaption to get to the same place. You say “the problem is…”. I say there is no problem except in the expectations of the audience.
I’m a LOTR fanatic. I liked it and can’t wait until the next episode comes out.
Here is a video meme on Lord of the Rings that is funny.
