Reporting from Ukraine is a Ukranian blogger who started his channel early March, after Russia invaded. He gives his assessement of where the Kherson counteroffensive on its fifth day.

Video summary for operations along the Kherson front:

• Ukraine has retaken Vysokopillia in the northern part of the offensive area. This town's location gives Ukraine a advantage in the immediate area.
• The also retook Blahodativka and expanded the Inhulets Bridgehead in the middle of the front.
• These advances are putting Russian control in the Northern part of Kherson at risk.
• Toward the south, fighting is ongoing, it doesn't look like recovering territory is happening.
• Ukranian drones are busy in the north, while aviation is conducting airstrikes in the south.
• Part of the Nova Kahovka bridge between Kherson and Crimea has collapsed. Heavy equipment can not cross it - although Russian forces can walk out from Kherson to Crimea.
• A pontoon bridge in Kozatske was destroyed / rendered inoperable. .

My ½¢ take on this:

1. Before the counter offensive began, Ukraine used HIMARS to attack bridges between Kherson and Crimea, and Russian depots on the western side of the Dniper river. Some bridges are damaged enough that heavy vehicles can not use them, while personnel can walk across them. This degraded Russian supply, resupply, and command and control in this area.
2. The pontoon bridges are a wasted effort. They are less effective than normal bridges and HIMARS can attack them the same.
3. The Northern advances are where Ukraine is successful so far, and have a opprotunity to take back a larger area. If that happens, Ukraine will have a military and political victory. Instead of just surviving they are now on the offensive and winning. That will be huge if that happens.
4. Ukrainian airstrikes in the south mean Russia air power and air defense in that area is less effective. MY guess is Ukraine will hold in the south more than advance and let artillery and air power work, while advancing in the North.
5. The preparing of the battle zone by concentrating HIMARS attacks in the Kherson region was a BIG CLUE that a conter offensive was coming. Other than propoganda claiming Ukraine has failed, Russia has now shown much in decisive counter action, despite having enough information to know something was up and time to take action. "If" this is the case, and this is a big "if" right now, that is a big indication the Russian abilities to sustain a conflict has severely degraded since the invasion started.

We know which side has the best fighting morale...that’s a no brainer. The stupid Russian monolith has once again found itself stuck in a bad offensive war.

Sadly for his fans, this victory may already be old news.
The flag was raised over a hospital, only the western part of the town was occupied. I read Russian Airborne forces launched a counterattack in force, a few hours ago, and it is not going well for Ukraine.

Why after having a 3:1 advantage, home filed advantage so to speak, 10s of billions of US taxpayer dollars and 19 packages of US military ‘wonder weapon’ equipment sent, the Ukrainians still losing the war/conflict against Russia?
