“A big screen TV comes with 2 year warranty from Costco. Who beats that for the price?”
At what price to start with.
I don’t buy chicken there but I know it’s cheaper than regular groceries. they price gas 70 cents to $1 less per gallon. Membership is $60/year. Each time I fill up there, I save roughly $15. I fill up 3 times per month. You do the math.
Thanks
You’re very welcome.
We have been Costco Members since 1994. It used to be an event with our children, who are now parents, and with their kids ~our grandkids.
My wife jokes that with the appetites, our family has, we would have starved without Costco and declared bankruptcy.
Since, the Covid B$, we now order online with Costco and get their two hour delivery once a month. Most of the time with a 20+ item order, we get everything we order. Last week, one item was not available. We place our order at 10 am to get one of their deli chickens. Most deliveries are done in about an hour.
We buy appliances and computers for their prices and instant refunds if there is a problem.
“I shop at Sams instead, as I don’t see the need to Virtue Signal.”
BOL! Since we don’t signal Virtue, we don’t shop at Sams!
What's not to like?
We’re members and go about four times a year. We HATE going there and have to psych ourselves for the visit for about a week. They have things we really like, and we stock up.
We’ve looked at electronics, jewelry, etc., but pretty much stick to food and paper goods.
Same with our Costco. I made the mistake of going into Costco right before a snowstorm and Christmas last year to pick up ONE item that might wife couldn’t find.
It was packed with all of the cashier lines about 30 people deep. It was nuts, but I had nothing better to do. Struck up a conversation with an dot Indian that had grown up in the USA.
He said this is nothing - he goes back to visit his family in India every year.
I joked “Today is like India in more ways than one!”
Seeing as the crowd was 90%+ of Indians, Muslims and Chinese he gave a good laugh.
I had hoped the pandemic would have caused the food tasting carts to go away for good, but sadly no. I was waiting one time to get around an elderly guy in a golf cart that was stuck trying to get around the crowd at the food cart.
He apologized for being in the way.
“Oh no - your good, go ahead, take your time. It’s the lady with the food cart that is blocking the aisle.”
The lady with the food cart gave me a dirty look.
My friend. has a Costco membership and I go with her occasionally.. Only things I want there are Alaskan Salmon burgers, frozen organic strawberries and occasionally blueberries. They used to be the one source for Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, which fit me perfectly, but Gloria died and there are no more jeans.
I found organic frozen strawberries at our really wonderful and cheap Grocery Outlet, just as good an even less money.
I love it.
There was a time we went every week. Every year. But there’s no “we” anymore so I go twice a year now. Always enjoyed going. Now it’s a reminder of what COVID-19 did to a society. Acrylic shields remain. All kinds of unpleasant precautions are still in place. Even though the snack area has returned, remembering when it wasn’t there makes me even pass up a slice of pizza now. I think I’ll cancel my membership next time. But I love buying sardines in bulk.😉
“Acrylic shields remain.”
Interesting that you’d mention that. Last week we remarked that they finally were GONE at our store.
