She was kidnapped 10 miles away from her house; her house is on what used to be my paper route back in the mid to late 1970’s.
In order to get as far as she did she would have to start running about 3:45 or so in the morning. She was abducted at 4:30. Yes, that’s insane.
The neighborhoods she ran through were fine, during the day. But nothing in Memphis is safe at night. If I step out at night I will put a handgun in my pocket just in case.
For what it’s worth she had anorexia and ran a whole lot. Probably some sort of exercise addiction. What else could account for a younger woman running by herself in the middle of the night?

Years ago I sat on a Grand Jury. One thing I learned is that there is an entire criminal subculture that sleeps during the day and comes out at night. A nice neighborhood in the daytime is very different when it gets dark.
