I agree. And actually, so does Andrew Klavan, as you will see if you will watch his videos. Finding the good stuff is the trick. He argues, as a broad collective generalization, that Hollywood has taken a wrong turn culturally. He also takes the view (almost universally shared on FR) that the left ruins everything it touches and that the woke epidemic that is running amuck in the film and tv industry is creative poison. But the film industry is not a monolith. Independent films, foreign films, and honest storytellers still manage to navigate the minefields and push back against the industry norms. If you watch his stuff, Klavan sounds like a freeper. I would not be surprised to discover that he is.
Anyhow, I agree with you that good movies are still being made. It's up to us to find them.
Your recommendations?
As always, I want to nudge in the direction of reasonably recent films. Golden oldies are fine, but most of us have already seen them. It's the new stuff that can be hard to find, partly because the streamers have fragmented the audience and a lot of the good films are invisible to most of the potential audience because they're on a platform to which you don't subscribe. (Or maybe you just weren't watching on the three days they flashed across the "just added" page before disappearing deep into the catalogue.) Most films eventually escape the silos and become cheap rentals or free to you as they bounce from one platform to another, but that can take years. By that time, they're old news; they have no current buzz and you are likely to overlook them unless you already know about them.
If you've seen something, say something. I do add freeper recommendations to my watchlist and encourage others to develop that habit. It's a place to start. I may or may not get around to actually watching a given film, but at least I have a heads up on something I had not been aware of.

The Rescue . It is a documentary about trying to save the lives of somes boys trapped in a cave in Thailand. Not a well known film but I recommend it highly.
