Dude, this is crazy because in the thread itself I tried to reply to this post like FOUR TIMES by clicking “reply” and it just took me to the main topic again. So I went into pings and was relieved to see your post is still there andI could reply to it. That’s weird, though. I might have clicked on the wrong part of the page once but not several times in a row - I was definitely hitting “reply.”
Anyway, I was just going to add: Everybody’s seen the homo jokes about Lord of the Rings, which are so old I remember reading them in National Lampoon in the early 1970s (might have been from an even earlier issue). Jeez, the whole thing is full of ad homo jokes (talking about the book of course; all movies suck).
But you can say that about any work of fiction, and well, hell, just about anything.
I was friends with a gal in jr high who never stopped talking about homosexuality. I mean, like NEVER. (It was in a catholic school LOL). Like it was so funny and haha you’re a homo and so on. And, well.....
So, based on my observations over a long period of time, I will say that if you start seeing homo jokes in everything, it’s about 99% probable that you’re a homo.
Now we have youtube so the homo references to Lord of the Rings (the movie) are like everywhere. :( You will see them whether you want to or not.
But let’s try to look at the bright side: We’re all so good and sick of it now, right? And our eyes have been opened to a lot of bad, nasty things that otherwise we would never have known about until they were marching us to the guillotines.
And: National Lampoon’s homo jokes about LOTR in the 1970s were a lot funnier, but one also gets bored and irritated with them, too.
"Hello, Frodo" was as emotional as it got.
Sam only touched Frodo's hand while he was recovering in Rivendell to see if he was still alive, not because of any fetish.
And there was no hugging, even.
Back in the 1970s, everyone made fun of someone they suspected was gay, so National Lampoon basically reflected that society. Now homosexuality has become a badge of honor.
National Lampoon used to be into T&A jokes, as well. Just shows our sexual obsession.
I can’t stay with childish humor for very long. And lately, if I even smile or chuckle at something childish, it boomerangs on me in some weird way.
National Lampoon’s “Bored With The Ring”
Really funny satire and totally politically incorrect although it is as correct for those times.
If I remember correctly, the show premiered on the anniversary of Tolkein’s death. Effectively giving a giant middle-finger to the “devout Roman Catholic.”
