My dad’s grandfather claimed Scot/Irish descent.
I have no proof of it, but suspect it is so.
Some of our farm land has been in the family 130+ years. Do you think I will give that up quietly?
This is still Texas.
Have spent the past 2-1/2 months (3rd try) making my house at the farm livable again. Think within 2-3 weeks we could move in. Have a couple of hurdles yet, but it is shaping up nice this attempt. This morning I plant to start with the Helmsman Spar Urethane varnish on the maple counter top I put together for one of the bathrooms. It looks really nice, but 4 coats of varnish will improve it. Using gloss version and it is the one that is said not to yellow.
Then I have a island cabinet to build for the kitchen. Not a large one, roughly 3’x6’, but it will have the same type of Maple counter top. existing cabinets were taken down to bare wood and refinished and new Formica top put on.
A local excavation company will be replacing another septic tank. Not scheduled yet.
It’s been vacant about 8 years.
Still a very nice home. Am selling the house in town when the restore is done.
I assume you will have a full gun cabinet out there.
Sounds beautiful.
May you have a brace of Colt .45s just to top it all off!
There is nothing like woodworking and restoration. I have done quite a bit myself, but on my 100 acres up here in Eastern Canada, I am putting up a wilderness cabin. A lot of toting and using propane generator. As an Ex Pat American, I find the place quiet and peaceful, but its a 50 mile ride to civilization, so called.
A persons gotta build.....or we don’t amount to much,LOL.
Right now, cutting firewood for winter, Just another cord and I’ll have the 5 I need.
Good that you are renovating the old place. It likely means a lot to your family.
That sounds wonderful!
Congratulations.
