I would move back to Minnesota but am reminded why I left when I look at photos like those below. Since I am retired and do not have to drive to work in all kinds of weather maybe I just buy a sunlamp and stay indoors for the winter months...

I finally got my parents to leave southern California almost 3 years ago. God’s timing is wonderful. We finished getting them moved in January 2020.
I was in Elk Grove visiting relatives last weekend. Elk Grove was known as a nice superb of Sacramento. Lately I’ve noticed a big uptick in homeless people. But the thing that caught my eye were banners on poles along the main street saying “Diversity” alternating with “Everyone Welcome”. I told my relatives “it is time to get out of Dodge “😱.

I never understood why it takes people so long to learn the things that she spoke about. I take seconds (ok, sometime minutes) to recognize stupidity in humans. Most people take decades.

You are right, at least Marylander's don't shit on every street, like they do in SF. So that is something.
Of a bit of interest is that some states (Texas included) are/were considering a ‘new-comers’ tax where new arrivals had to pay a fee for moving to the state. I think Texas shelved that idea because while it is easy to identify new-comers via public records or drivers license applications, without a state income tax or some such mechanism it is difficult to collect the fee. There is also some discussion between state, county, city officials about the fee distribution.
IMHO opinion the fee is not as important as managing new-comers voting habits. I propose that new-comers cannot vote in local elections for 3-5 years after arriving. They can of course still vote in the state from where they came so there is no denial of voting rights.
I have a similar proposal for the illegals that may somehow be allowed to vote, but their wait is 18 years. That number is derived from this: the left is tired of waiting 18 years to grow new democrats (birth to voting age) so they are importing millions of illegals with the intent to give them the right to vote hoping that the majority will vote D. I propose that unless an immigrant is a naturalized citizen, the illegals cannot vote until they have lived in the USA for a continuous 18 years.
