This happened in my town yesterday. The off duty DPD officer knew the guy. No idea what the reason for the attack was. Officer was not seriously hurt. Attacker didnt receive any bullet wounds unfortunately.

Don't know, but mother animals are known to run away from their young and toward a predator who is approaching their nest or brood. The officer had kids inside the house.

I'd say that as a father of children in the house he was pretty quick to get the gun out of lockdown.
