Those who warn most of some mythical civil war are those most likely to incite one.
As Joe Biden’s polls stagnate and the midterms approach, we are now serially treated to yet another progressive melodrama about the dangers of a supposed impending radical right-wing violent takeover.
This time the alleged threat is a Neanderthal desire for a “civil war.”
The FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Florida home, the dubious rationale for such a historic swoop, and the popular pushback at the FBI and Department of Justice from roughly half the country have further fueled these giddy “civil war” conjectures.
Recently “presidential historian” Michael Beschloss speculated about the parameters of such an envisioned civil war.
Beschloss is an ironic source. Just days earlier, he had tweeted references to the executions of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who passed U.S. nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union in the 1950s, in connection with the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago.
That was a lunatic insinuation that Trump might justly suffer the same lethal fate due to supposedly mishandling of “nuclear secrets.” Unhinged former CIA Director Michael Hayden picked up on Beschloss death-penalty prompt, adding that it “sounds about right.”
Hayden had gained recent notoriety for comparing Trump’s continuance of the Obama Administration’s border detention facilities to Hitler’s death camps. And he had assured the public that Hunter Biden’s lost and incriminating laptop was likely “Russian disinformation”.
So, like the earlier “Russian collusion” hoax, and the January 6 “insurrection,” the supposed right-wing inspired civil war is the latest shrill warning from the Left about how “democracy dies in darkness” and the impending end of progressive control of Congress in a few months.
On cue, Hollywood now joins the civil war bandwagon. It has issued a few bad, grade-C movies. They focus on deranged white “insurrectionists”

The AntiFa types in Seattle claimed sovereignty over a piece of land for a considerable period.
I’ll say about the prospect of any secession now the same thing I said about the secession of 160 years ago:
If they want to go, let them go. Yes, we will need to sit down and negotiate terms of the separation dividing up the assets and liabilities fairly, but each state is sovereign bound only by its voluntary act of ratifying the constitution - as Madison said in the federalist papers. If a state feels it would be better off apart and that is the democratically expressed will of the people of that state, I’d say let them go.
There is just one caveat.
I would insist as a condition of letting them go, that they allow any county in that state which wants to secede from the state in order to stay in the US, to do so. After all, consent works both ways. eg if California wants to leave fine....but they would have to allow the state of Jefferson (ie Northern California and the Imperial Valley) to leave California. The departers would only get that coastal strip from Oakland on down and I’m not even sure San Dog would go along with it.
The underground resistance will never die.....
Hi texas booster, would you mind adding me to this VDH list please?
No.
The last Civil War, like most of them, required opposing armies.
We are in the “bleeding Kansas” - Dred Scott decision phase, but we are a long way from a divided chain of command.
from his mouth to God's ear. May it be so.
The Left is in total panic with the prospect of exposing years of their illegal acts. All committed to preserve their power, by any means possible. It is near time for them to stew in their own juices.
NOW. It is TIME to DownSize DC and end this Lawless Bureaucrap Rule.
It's TIME to DownSize DC!
Restore the Constitution!Size DC!
You mean the Civil war was NOT about slavery? It was about unjust and crippling (to the south) tariffs?
Don’t be so negative.
The nation is not made up of the stuff from the Urban Jungle. This November will be an eye opener.
May God Bless the USA and God Bless Texas.
Well, without force-on-force capability, a lot of dead deplorables would certainly be how to bet.
The Democrats don’t want to leave (especially when they are in power); they want to control us. Unfortunately, it will be up to the Red states to leave.
I’d like to think secession is possible, but I think that it would turn bloody at some point.
My son and I discussed this the other night (we made sure to move our cell phones out of range).
He said something like... When people have nothing they will fight for anything.
Meaning most Americans are fat and lazy and have a nice comfortable lifestyle. Most won’t take up arms when they have a job and that nice home.
A lot would need to change before it came to a civil war.
This statement, and others like it, keep coming up.
How do you imagine the Army of Northern Virginia, the Army of the Tennessee, the Army of the Trans-Mississippi and all the others came into existence? Do you think there were just a bunch of ordinary men farting around who somehow got together, gave up the equivalent of sportsball and free cheese, and fought off the United States Army for four long years?
All you CW II people are missing the intermediate steps to turn the people you deplore as "sheeple" into a force equal to the United States Marine Corps, the regular Army, the Air Force, and all the Special Forces commands.
The Armed Forces of the United States in 1861 became divided by DECADES of political work and ideological struggle that went before, none of which exists today.
When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.”
And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
In a set-piece battle with both troops lined up in formation. Sure. But the mid-19th Century is over, and asymmetrical combat is another matter entirely, as the Viet Cong, the Irgun, and other examples.
But they are the ones itching for a CW II. If the deplorables had wanted one, it would have been on already two and a half years ago, when we had the superior armaments and manpower.
...and other examples illustrate.
Oh I could easily see a situation in which most Hispanics are voting Republican, that flips several purple states to being pretty solidly red, the Democrats are losing and they want out. There was talk from Vermont and California and Hawaii about wanting out when Trump was in office.
If they are not running things, they will get incredibly frustrated and fast....especially if it looks like that’s going to be the usual condition.
A general civil war would be concentrated in strategically critical places, such as transportation and shipping hubs, communication centers, etc. There would be very little fighting in North Dakota, because there is very little worth taking possession of and keeping in North Dakota. Washington, DC, Savannah, or Chicago, would see a lot of fighting. But not Rhode Island or the South Carolina sea islands. There are enough F-15s for those strategic areas, but they would have no role in suppressing urban insurrectionists in critical assets, because they’d have to destroy, e.g., the Capitol, the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Hunts Point produce depot in order to “save” them from occupation by wicked deplorables, who could simply make themselves scarce after a hit-and-run raid, before the F15s got there.
