How to break up the FBI

1. The best way to reduce its power is to break up the agency and move what's left away from Washington.

3. Send all traditional law enforcement employees to the U.S. Marshal's Service, as it was before the FBI was created.

4. Send all the remaining employees to new agencies.

6. Close the FBI headquarters in D.C.

Sounds logical.

Now, think about how the FBI will react to legislation removing their power. Members must be strong to stand up to the FBI's "six ways to Sunday" method Chuck Schumer talked about.

One thing we learned from Comey's conversation with Trump about the Russian prostitutes is how the FBI will threaten members if they take action against the FBI's interest. Sort of like the mafia telling a store owner that it would be a shame to see their store burn down.

Think about the way it plays out with a lowly member of Congress having the FBI take their cell phone when they land at the airport

That is the toughest part of your plan.

Breaking them up and scattering them to other agencies would create resentful agents and then distribute them to other agencies around DC. They have become traitors. They must be disbanded and forbidden from law enforcement.

No, Don’t move them to other agencies, fire their asses and shut down the entire thing. State police can handle their functions.

There is something to be said for making the innocent agents pay a price for their failed leadership. I’d make them beat cops for a couple of years. You know local cops. Then reconsider. They can work in cities where they’re quitting.

Downsizing will go with the passing off of work to other agencies, most likely state. There won’t be a need for as many when they return.

Those are all great suggestions.

Indeed, why stop with the FBI? Why not move USDA, Energy and so forth our of the Beltway? The activities they oversee (query why we even need them in the first place) are all located outside the Beltway. Get USDA to Iowa, Department of Energy to Texas, etc.

But the Deep State goes, well, deeper than that. The Senior Executive Service was created by law in 1978. That law made GS-15 and above federal employees nearly un-fireable - if not in theory then at least in practice. All of the Deep State bureaucrats like Fauci, Birx, Comey etc. are nearly untouchable. They're like "made men" in La Cosa Nostra because of the 1978 Civil Service law.

I say Repeal that law and make them and all federal employees at-will. That should take us about halfway there. Downsizing (or disbanding completely) the rest and moving them out of DC would take us the rest of the way, IMHO.

Anyone fired should be blackballed from ever working for any law enforcement or security agency for life!

Exactly!

Fire all of them.

Hire them to clean rest rooms on the Interstate highways.

Breaking them up and scattering them to other agencies would scatter bitter resentful agents throughout the government. Ban them… it also serves as an object lesson for all the other Feds.

Send “remaining employees to other agencies”?
Hell no. Fire them.

The FBI lab concept was a big deal back in the 30s. States and groups of states are easily capable of the same work and do some of the same work. And the best don’t do this again rule is seeing them go to prison and lose their jobs. If there are no consequences for what they have done in the last decade, it will happen again. It Hass to be direct personal consequences. The people who did the Russia gate hoax need to go to prison, the people who sent spies in to the White House need to go to prison .

F*uck the so called innocent agents. Their long standing SILENCE makes them just as guilty as those actually committing crimes.

FIRE ALL OF THEM. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Control the House and Senate and cut off their funding. Of course, the best solution is President Trump to fire the entire leadership in the bureau and investigate their criminal activity.

They aren’t fit to be street cops. They don’t have the basic morality decency or work ethic. And it is simply not the case that there are innocent agents paying the price for failed leadership. The corruption has been around long enough that it is pervasive through the agency, and new hires were only hired if they agreed with the direction. It would be exceedingly rare to find decent agents. FBI is not up to the standards of most local police. And yes, I am well aware of what I speak.
Generally speaking, back of the envelope, FBI agents are around 40 to 45 times less likely to have a violent encounter than a local cop. They are not prepared despite hot movies and recent TV series.

Throw in a superiority delusion and disbanded FBI as local cops is visible as a bad idea.

At the end of “The lives of others”, Feisler was seen in his post Stasi role as a mailman. They have screwed the pooch.. too bad.

7. Build a new Trump Tower on the site of the J Edgar Hoover building

Agree.
Not enough good agents have stepped up to blow the whistle.
Hundreds should have stepped up. Only a few have.
They value their on security over the Nations security.
Fire them all.

Don’t stop with the FBI. Turn DC into a ghost town. Put federal employees on the border. Anybody crosses illegally, the fine comes out of their paycheck.

I heard the simplest solution to just strip them of law powers, basically makes them a powerless intelligence agency

Nobody in the top 3 layers of the FBI should ever be employed in government again. Will a few good apples get tossed? Likely, but it is the best way to assure we don’t simply transfer the problem.

Alternatively, and maybe better still, we should return the vast majority of their role to the states and hire new staff for what is absolutely required for the much shrunken, replacement organization.

No way! Simply write an executive order that states the DOJ no longer requests the FBI or the FBI Police (Yes, there is an FBI Police) be funded and that all employees of the FBI are terminated.
