I’m a recovering alcoholic who by the grace of God never killed anyone driving blitzed out of my mind.
Heche didn’t give a rip about anything or anyone when she CHOSE to drink and do drugs and get behind the wheel of her car and destroyed someone’s home.
Spend sometime working in a hospital ER in any capacity and see what some peoples selfishness can do to innocent people.
Shame on you.
And if I misunderstood what you were saying, I am sorry.
My point though is that you, even as a former drinker (I am also), have no way of knowing what led to her getting behind the wheel. She surely shouldn't have, of course, but what drinker hasn't done exactly what she has done (i.e., getting behind the wheel when you shouldn't have)?
The bad thing here is that she crashed...and now she's paying for it.
What I think is wrong (and I have been guilty of it plenty of times) is a rush to judgment without knowing what was really going on. We just presume that she cavalierly got in the car, knowing full-well she was too drunk to drive, and feeling an entitled sense of privilege, sped off down the street not caring who she hurt.
The problem is that we just don't know that for a fact.
She's no better or worse than you or me. Except she crashed.
