Here’s a thought: Stop piddling away tax dollars on “free lunches”.
Should never have got started in the first place.

30 million kids a day are fed free lunches at school, along with busing this is one of the reasons we pay such high taxes.
It’s ridiculous.
You assume they want to know how things really work. That is a HUGE assumption.
All Al Sharpton and his people are interested in is shaking down school systems, reality of how things really work needn’t get in the way.
I was in grammar school in the 50's. There was no cafeteria, or meals offered, so we all went home for lunch. My mother always had a bottle of Nehi cherry waiting for me.
Best idea yet. You will starve and be happy. The government is not your daddy. If mama needs money, get a job and keep the legs together.

It should be a pretty simple matter for school lunch programs to find out how many students might need an alternative and then provide it. Or, the parents who still feed their children (I’m sure there are some) could buy an alternative and send it with the kids. I don’t see the need to take this issue down the well-worn racism path, except that’s the stock in trade of the likes of Sharpton.
My parochial school lunch room experience was not the norm. We had an awsome lady in charge and she made sure we had food. Chili, bierocks, mashed potatoes with a beef roast gravy, burritos, homemade pizza, chicken pot pie/noodles...we ate well. I remember a lunch card was 18.00 and we got 20 punches/card. Of course, I did take my lunch too, Mom made sure i had food. I was really blessed growing up. Shame it took so long to realize it.

The schools are garbage and promoting crap and mediocrity, racism and idiotic libtard theories. Plus very political.

Someday, my friend and I went to Woolworth’s for lunch, or sometimes we went to his house (until we decided to bake a Chicken soup cake in his sister’s EZ Bake Oven, then he couldn’t go home for lunch) or my house. Most of the time Brown bag lunch...PB&J, PB&Marshmallow, Meatloaf, P&P and other sandwiches.
If you don’t like the school lunches, pack your own.
Problem solved.

The school bus took us home for lunch in 1-7 grades. I fixed lunch for my brother and me. Then we caught the bus back to school.
I had always thought that lactose intolerance was a northern European genetic issues.
Now I learn that maybe no one should drink cows milk after their teen years.
Maybe we should just all go back to fresh human milk? I understand that American Indians would sometimes nurse their children until menses ...
