I think the death of a long-time host or retirement of such is good time to stop watching any show, because subsequent shows just won’t be the same.
Agreed. The Price Is Right just isn’t the same since Bob Barker retired.
We don’t watch Jeopardy anymore, mostly because Alex Trebec is gone, but even before that the show wasn’t as good as it had been years ago. Successfully answering questions now seems to depend on being able to solve hints and pick up references, rather than simply knowing information.
Alec Trebek was a good host, but that’s all. Mayim is also good, and Ken Jennings is better.
Did you stop watching when Art Fleming left the show?
“I think the death of a long-time host or retirement of such is good time to stop watching any show, because subsequent shows just won’t be the same.”
I have applied that concept to post-Trabek Jeopardy! and any conservative radio talk-show after Rush’s death. It’s true that nothing can be the same and even more true that little measures up to the original. Having experienced both the Fleming-hosted and Trabek-hosted shows, I can say the revived show made improvements that held and grew viewer interest.
