It should be TRUMP in 2024 - and DeSantis should wait until 2028 because he's still young and needs to make Florida a red state for generations: CPAC attendees reveal who they want to be on the ticket to face the Democrats

When President Donald Trump takes the stage at a major conservative conference in Dallas on Saturday he will likely have just received a boost to his 2024 plans in the form of a straw poll that will almost certainly rank him as the clear favorite among attendees.

But that is not the end of the story as far as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose star has been on the rise this year.

Attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference want him first to continue the work he is doing in Florida before taking up the national MAGA torch in the 2028 election.

All I know is that we cannot afford to lose in 2024.

I like Trump but we cannot lose. I believe DeSantis has the better chance because Trump has some that will never vote for him and there will be a greater effort to steal it from him again.

I just do not understand why so many conservatives have their knickers in a knot over the Trump vs. DeSantis possible matchup.

It’s a Win/Win for conservatives and for America.

Naturally we hope Donald Trump prevails and is rightfully restored to the presidency and to the White House. But if he is not, for any reason the front runner after the GOP convention then it will fall to DeSantis.

What, pray tell, is wrong with that?

I predict Trump will anoint a successor and not run.

You’re bound to catch some flak for that. But it’s a very good point. Trump alienated a lot of soccer moms. Sad, but true. I say this from talking to many of them. They are sorta, kinda conservative. But they are missing the big picture. Trump lost them, and it will be difficult to get them back.

Oh?

Which ones of those rally attendees would that be? or the over 70 million real votes he got in 2020?

Too many eyes on even 2022 primaries, which is why it couldn’t be stolen from Kari Lake, for example. And why would you think they would not try to steal it from DeSantis if he were the candidate?

Those “soccer moms”, if true to their stereotype, were not Trump voters to begin with. Although I suspect that many of them did vote for him in 2020, what with that very high figure of real votes he got. And we can speculate how many “soccer moms” (presuming them to be a significant demographic and not an outdated media creation) are attending Trump’s rallies today . . .

My biggest concern with Trump is he has no legal strategy to combat the steal. His two sons should have mobilized a legal army. They didn’t and they’ll be caught flat-footed again if he runs.

If they don’t try to steal it from DeSantis then DeSantis isn’t worth a damn anyway.

DeSantis’ stable of aides should be viewed as the bullpen for the next Trump administration.

People don’t necessarily run for president to win the nomination. They run to gain name recognition, to establish a team, to raise money they can use for other races. The list of reasons is endless. DeSantis needs to run to establish credibility. If he loses, but not by much, it makes him an ideal pick for VP. Run DeSantis, run!

If he wins, he wins. If he loses, he wins. Either way, we, the public win also.

LOL! The greater effort to undermine a candidate and steal an election, means the candidate is right over the target. Just like Trump...

Ron DeSantis is superior to Donald Trump in every metric. Why should we have to wait until 2028?

Don't get me wrong. If Trump EARNS the nomination, he'll have my vote but, as my tagline says, I'm looking elsewhere.

Considering demographic trends and the fact that a big green light was given for massive vote fraud when the USSC decided not to get involved with the steal of 2020, I doubt another Republican will ever win again. I’m not joking.

Trump has dozens of scores to settle........the backstabbers, tattle tales and disloyalists.

It remains for him to decide whether he can best settle up....in or out of the presidency.

I agree with that. Those folks weren’t hard-core Trump supporters. Maybe they just disliked Hillary more than they disliked Trump. And now they’re back to being fence-sitters. Unfortunately, due to Democrat cheating we’re going to need every one of them.

So I’m okay with DeSantis in 2024. I’m also okay with Trump 2.0. And by the latter I mean I’d like to see Trump tone down the Patton side of him and bump up the Reagan side.
