Four current and former Louisville Police officers have been charged by the FBI in connection with the deadly raid at Breonna Taylor’s apartment in 2020.
Ex-LPMD detectives Joshua Jaynes, 40, and Brett Hankison, 46 are all facing federal civil rights charges for their actions in the Taylor investigation.
Current LMPD Sergeant Kyle Meany, 45, and detective Kelly Hanna Goodlett are facing the same charges.
Jaynes was fired by the Louisville Metro Police in January 2021, in Kentucky, for adding a false statement to his sworn affidavit for the 'no knock' warrant to search Taylor's apartment over her drug dealer ex-boyfriend.
As a result EMT Taylor, 26, was fatally shot by LMPD officers on 13 March 2020, sparking widespread protests around the country.
Attorney General Merrick Garland and Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke today announced the charges - which include violating Taylor's civil rights, unlawful conspiracies, unconstitutional use of force, and obstruction offenses.
They claim that the LMPD’s Place Based Investigations Unit falsified the affidavit used to obtain the search warrant for Taylor’s home, which then led to her death.
Garland also confirmed that Hankison, who was cleared of criminal charges earlier this year, has been charged with two two counts of deprivation of rights under color of law.
Until now Hankison was the only officer to be charged in relation to Taylor's death, after firing shots through her window and sliding glass door.
He was found not guilty of three counts of wanton endangerment for firing shots into a neighboring apartment.
Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Walker returned fire with a shot that struck an officer in the leg.
Police then opened fire, hitting Taylor six times and killing her in the incident.

More political arrests by the FBI for the DoJ.
It’s way past time to shut both of those agencies down.
If the rental agency left a dead body in the trunk of my rental car I’d return it too! ;^)
If I didn’t know any better I would completely agree with your post!

Why do the Governors and State AGs put up with these “agents” impersonating police officers within their state?
Effing POS. Shame.
A banana republic
Wait a minute — I thought the “antiracist”, CRT people told us that couldn’t possibly happen. Not in a systemically rasit, white supremacist country.

She was working in the drug trade. She was in constant contact with dealers, and had a new Dodge Charger bought by one dealer, the next year another. They raided her place, and the other drug dealer in her bed, opened fire on the cops, and they shot back....THE END. The tapes of her phone conversations with these people were on the internet. She was basically a mule, and a ho for them.
Are we ever going to get back to there being only one trial per suspect? Double Jeopardy in the Rodney King case, and now it is EVERY case they want to make “brown”ie points with the brahs and the Demoncrats.
The FBI throwing the book at cops for lying to get a warrant.
There is more than a littley hypocrisy there methinks.
Taylor rented a car.
She let a friend (Bowman) drive the car to run an 'errand' (likely drug related but we don't know for sure.)
Bowman was involved in an altercation and was shot (the shooter was arrested some weeks later).
Wounded, Bowman tried to drive to the hospital in the car Taylor had rented.
He crashed the car and died behind the wheel of his wounds.
Taylor was not with Bowman during any of the above, except to give him the car for his use.
None of the above is meant to make excuses for Taylor, but rather to lay out the facts of that particular incident.
A lot of jurisdictions have signed “consent decrees” which is a big step towards nationalizing the police.
Wray needs to be arrested for dereliction of duty.
Truckloads of it, but that’s not an excuse to let the locals off the hook.
Lying on warrants is and should be treated like the cancer it is. Cut it out or burn it out.
Little Miss Say Her Name was a dirt bag king pin of a very extensive drug selling gang. She ran the gang by phone her drug lord boyfriend who was serving time in jail for dealing drug. They have the phone recordings of their conversations for evidence. She also was mail drop for drug deliveries and she would distribute the drugs to the stash houses when she got them
She was dealing fentanyl, crack, meth, heroin and many other drugs to at risk kids, many of whom became addicts.
The gang she ran for her boyfriend was made up of hard core bad guys and two of the gangsters were found murdered execution style in a rental car rented in her name.
She got jobs in emergency medicine so she could grab drugs in the confusion of emergency room and in field EMT medical crisis situations where people were not paying close attention to the drug kitty.
She was fired several times for this but she was a protected class and never prosecuted.
She was hanging out with a rival drug gang leader in her apartment when the no knock raid was executed. According to phone recordings from jail, her boyfriend said she had about $8000 of his money profits hidden in the apartment.
A no knock raid was appropriate given the violent nature of the gang she led and there were about 12 other residences of gang members who got simultaneous, coordinated no knock raids as the goal of the police was to roll up the entire gang in one swoop.
The rival drug dealer with say her name initially swore to police that Brianna was the one who fired the shots at the officers, possibly because she may have thought that members of her gang were coming down on her for hanging with a rival gang leader. The gun she used to fire first and critically wound the officer at the door was not his gun .
Really sick of the lies about little miss say her name.
She was a hard core, long term (over 7 years) leader of major gang of violent drug dealing felons, several of whom were involved in or victims of gangster style murders.
She and her gang poisoned thousands of of at risk kids and adults with the worst kinds street drugs and she helped ruin countless lives.
How did she come to be dismissed from her EMT job?
Thank you.
Drugs were found in the car with the dead guy. I looked it up.

FBI SOP is to blow off all three branches of government. Legislative, Executive, and Judicial government are afraid of them.
