My PTSD dog/best friend goes for chest x-rays tomorrow to see if his osteosarcoma has spread or not.

Thank you my dear friend.

My heart is breaking for the fear of the future without him.

He is the only thing that I have here that makes my wretched life worth living.

What a wonderful thing to say to me.

I know what you are going through, but remember there is a Doggie Heaven and perhaps yours will meet ours and they will be sooo happy.

Warm regards, Salamander.

In the span of 61 years, I have acquired a crazy mob of dog angels who would probably mortify yours with their lack of manners.
[Especially the Ibizan Hounds. OMG, like jackals on steroids]

:)

NOT familiar with the breed.

We had a Westie, I’m reasonably sure that’s short for West Highland White.

I just realized we had a White Supremacist Precious Doggie.

LOLOL!

Ibizan Hounds are a “primitive breed”, which is a polite way of saying they’re basically feral, untrainable and quite insane.

Having 7 or 8 in your house is pretty much like having a herd of spooked Gazelles randomly bounding off of the walls and the backs of the sofa.
A 6 foot jump from a standing position is simply nothing, for them.

Literally.

They will happily go off and fend for themselves and do well hunting and feeding themselves.
They really do not need humans, at all.
They also make a point to remind you that you are their inferior, in very possible way.
Never had a more humbling breed. :D

But God, how I loved them.

Sounds like you have strong feelings for creatures who really deserve our love and care.

And now to bed.

Things will turn out for the best.

I love animals.
All of them.
They are my happy place and my life.

We had a Cairn terrier, Westies are white Cairns. Separate breed, selected for white fur so they were easy to distinguish from the rabbits they were chasing so the Elmer Fudd out hunting wabbits wouldn’t shoot their own dog by mistake.

GREAT dogs.

Our Cairn was amazing. I still miss her some 40 odd years later.

Dorothy chose wisely for a companion on her whirlwind vacation...

OMG. We are only missing our genius, Tory, for ten years.

Thinking about getting another rescue Westie.

We decided nothing could replace Corky.

Then this little knucklehead showed up in our 'pond' a year ago July.

Furry-Dipper-3

Starving, desperately thirsty, and furry dipping to escape the 103° heat.

We thought he was a Boxer, very skittish, took months to get him to come within 10 feet of us.

Finally December 1st at 1 AM (and yes, we checked every hour) 23° out he decided he could risk coming in the house.

After he'd acclimated for a couple weeks we took him to the vet, who said he couldn't treat him (eh?) he's not legally your dog (and he had no chip, no collar, no tattoo to locate said owner).

We had to take him to anna mule control and he was a political prisoner, as he'd committed no crime, in doggy jail for 5 days for the "real" owner to show up, after which he'd be transferred to the Humane Society for adoption, with me first on the list.

The Humane Society refused to take him (!) too timid/skittish.

Boxer. Chicken. We named him Tyson.

Today he's our 115 lb wrecking ball. Gentle as can be except to strangers and when in play mode, bounced up and broke my son's nose, threw out my shoulder playing keep away, took me for a drag and slammed me face first into a mail truck. Fun dog.

Good thing he's cute...

...oh, and he's apparently not a Boxer, he's an American Bulldog, and maybe part Mastiff. To late to change his name.

Yes and no.

Lung rads seem clear which is great, but his leg is in bad shape.

Basically eggshell surrounding mush and becoming deformed.

*If* I ever get my Magnum back [14 months and counting] so i can haul home a stapled together 3 legged dog, amp seems likely.

He needs to lose a lot of weight.

Unlike every other cancer stricken dog on earth, he eats like a harvest hand and has gained 22 pounds, which is exactly what I’ve lost.

At least I know where that weight went.

Low on money, if anybody wants to kick in a couple bucks.

Literally, every little bit helps and I am so deep in debt to Care Credit, I feel sick when I think about it.

9 months and no spread though is wonderful.

Something to be grateful for.

I swore I would go right to the wall for this dog and I did, but now I’m just standing here staring at its unforgiving and brutal façade.

God knows I tried.

:(
