You must choose. But choose wisely...
He chose poorly

Nothing yet from the pilot yet on why the copilot was not in the cockpit.

The author of the story chose to write poorly.

I exited a plane a few weeks ago, of course I had a parachute.

He just had to get the Fuquay from the aircraft.

Fuquay-Varina! Fuquay-Varina? Fuquay-Varina.
I’ll be damned, learn a new location damn near every day.
I assume this comes from the French 2-3 centuries ago?

Remember, it’s not the fall that kills you... it’s the sudden stop when you hit the ground.

It’s been a while for me, but I too, will go to my grave having taken off in more planes than I’ve landed in.
To: cyclotic
I exited a plane last month but didn’t need a parachute because it landed safely then taxied to the gate.

So the co-pilot jumped out of the plane?
To: DUMBGRUNT
So horribly sad!
Strangely written. One statement that he was the do-pilot but otherwise, just talk of him as “a man”. I can’t believe if the pilot is basically fine, they did not get any statement from him yet to flesh it out and humanize it.
The way it’s set up you’d think the poor guy was a stowaway or something.

So the co-pilot jumped out of the plane? Pure speculation on my part, but perhaps he was attempting to unstick the landing gear and fell.

Landing without landing gear (landing gear issues) or landing without a plane...Hummmm, Which would I choose?
To: Joe 6-pack
One of the guys in our group has never once landed in an airplane.
This was his first ever flight and he jumped out.
