Running a business requires taking the political climate, which includes taxes. subsidies and regulations, into account. I wouldn't say he knows zero. I would say he takes account of the environment and uses it to his advantage. If the government throws money at EVs, why not Tesla instead of Fiskars?

They rose because the street compared the numbers for GM, Ford and Tesla.

Tesla has made more profit (in terms of Billions of $) then either Ford or GM for the last 2 quarters, even though it has ~ 1/4 to 1/5 their production.
