Elon Musk is pleading for more investment in lithium, the silvery-white metal that's crucial to making electric-car batteries. He recently complained about the metal's "insane" costs and said anyone who enters the refining business basically gets a "license to print money."
The billionaire has a point. As the auto industry shifts away from dirty fossil fuels and toward cleaner battery power, lithium is in the spotlight. Demand for the metal has skyrocketed in recent years, as has its price.
Questions still remain about whether the world will manage to mine, refine, and ship enough lithium to support the green revolution set to occur over the next decade and beyond. Here we've laid out the basics of why lithium is so important and what could happen next.

they will ignore it just like the dead birds from the wind turbines
its not wrong when they do it
“Cleaner battery power?” These people have the IQ of a turnip.
A massive deposit of lithium has been found on the US, in VT or NH. It’s been a few weeks since I read the article so I forgot which one. Family owned mine of geologists but the state NIMBY mining laws on strip mining are affecting the future extraction. We have the lithium in the US but will we be able to process and sell it?
Reminds of FDR saying:
"Getting enough rubber is one of the biggest challenges facing car companies..."
We all know how that turned out...
For those of us old enough to remember, it's Deja Vu all over again...

Not a good look.
Yup. I’ve said before that the planet will hit a diminishing returns on sourcing components for these batteries. Ten years from now, let’s remember today’s forecasts.
Yep- i noticed that as well-
hmmm, can I use lithium carbonate to make batteries?
Another Libtard Ecological Disaster
This is about ending personal transportation period.
Step 1: Getting people to abandon ICE vehicles, using EVs as bait.
Step 2: When the EVs prove not to be the solution? “Oh well, guess you have to take public transportation, sorry.”
IF the left all of a sudden start complaining about lithium mining (after they force everyone onto electric cars) it will be like their complaints about coal mining- We will have plenty of it, but they will demand we not mine it-
liberals seem to want everyone walking (but themselves of course) for some reason- I guess because they know it will make people miserable, and that is what the left lives for- making people miserable when there is no reason for it-
Exactly- that is their goal-
Yup, like the silver mine tailings in Colorado and hydro gold mining in Northern California polluting the rivers all the way down to the Bay. Oh well. We shall see in a few years the effects of mining components for EV batteries. In theory the EPA will shut down the mines, creating shortages and we’ll wish the petroleum industry still had refining capacity for gasoline and diesel. IMOHO
Where’ the guardrails?
The Oceans have all sorts of Li.
Scary isn’t it?
I’d hate to have to work at the bottom level.
how is your 401k
Elon just has to hire more children to do the mining in Africa and elsewhere.
