A half teaspoon of baking soda mixed in a small glass of water works as well.

In survival school I learned that a couple of teaspoons ashes from a campfire mixed with water does the same thing.

It's worked for millennia. It was my great grandpappy's and Grandpappy's go-to for acid indigestion and my Dad's and mine for years. Baking soda is a must have item in one's prepping inventory.

I did that with a tablespoon of baking soda once. The loudest, longest, most violent and intense burp of my life ensued.
Scared the hell out of me.

That’s what I learned from my old granny. I think it can be good for headaches sometimes, too.
But the only thing that has given me indigestion in 5 decades has been, occasionally, corn chips...and even that only twice.
