These used to be called “acts of God” Things happen, we can’t control everything , unless we are god.

True, but at least they could have comped the flight. They comped my room because I had to get up in the middle of the night, because a fire alarm went off in the hotel. It wasn’t the hotels fault, but they did it anyway.
I think a bloody head is worth a free flight. Offering $12 is more likely to make someone mad than happy.
