I suspect that once all of the information is out, will find that he was closer. I have shot competitively, worked at a range, don’t know his history, most people I’ve seen cannot remotely do this, especially with that many in that short of time, plus the urgency of that moment.
The police should know how far it was and I think they said 40 yards..but you would have to look at where all the pillars are because he braced himself against a pillar when he started shooting so he had to have been sitting close to one.
Someone asked his lawyer to clarify but lawyer not answering anything at this time. He is just nailing Shannon watts for calling Eli a criminal. I think he is probably scouring for all the people he can sue....!
I read somewhere (probably an FR post) that he quickly moved closer after the first shot.
That would make things ‘easier’; not all shots at 40 yds.
I have not seen a definitive measurement of the range.
That said, I have known (and know) a lot of people who could do this fairly easily.
An ordinary Glock is plenty accurate enough (2.5 inches at 25 yards, 4 inches at 40 yards). He supposedly was shooting supported from a pillar.
In my prime, I could hit a 16 inch gong at 100 yards, one handed, 9 out of 10 times, but a little slower, with my Colt Woodsman.
I am not sure of the percentages. It is much better than most police can do.
But for someone who consistently trains, it is very doable.
It is well below what is necessary for university level competition on the National Match course.
