There’s always something that needs to be done at any place of business, especially a fast-food place. If your job stipulates that you have to be there at 4, that’s when you show up.

Really?! I doubt if that clause was in their employment offer. You are hired to be at your post at a particular time and for a period of time. This is NOT dependent upon zero customers or a full house.
Do you feel that you can make your own rules for your employment?

No customers for a McDonald’s breakfast shift? The working world eats a LOT of McDonald’s breakfast - at least from what I see.

I stopped at McDonalds before work. Despite being a little after 6 am when they were supposed to open, they were still closed, and I saw no one inside, no cars in the lot, etc. Double checked the website and hours on the door, yup-open at six.
Never went again.
