Mazda must have peaked in the last few years then. Scotty was saying that Mazda was becoming the best car company these days. I have a 2016 Mazda CX5 and it is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I know that Mazda used to be mediocre in some aspects like body paint, and now seeing what they have done with the E CX30, makes me wonder if my next car should be another Mazda.
We have a Scion iA, which is actually a Mazda 2. I bought it as my wife’s “running around town” car, but we’ve driven it all over the country, including two trips to Seattle from our home in south central Kentucky. It really shines at one of the main things I liked about it: It is relatively quiet and feels much bigger than it really is. So far it has 135k miles on it and the only failure was the serpentine belt at 130k, and that was my own fault.
I have a CX 30 Select with AWD and the Skyactive G power plant. I also have a CX 5. The 30 is a lot more fun to drive but has really tight back seats. The CX 5 is much quieter inside and has quite a bit more room. That said I will probably keep the CX 30 when it comes off lease for about $16,000 and roll the 5 into a CX 50 or the bigger option. I’ve had several Mazdas since 2018 and all have been problem free and a pleasure to own.
