It's not an impossible scenario but it is a highly unlikely one. Off-off-year elections are poor indicators of voter sentiment in presidential or off-year (even years outside presidential election years) elections.

Just ask Chris Christie -- who was elected TWICE as a Republican (in 2009 and 2013) in one of the most reliably leftist states in the U.S.

Oddly enough, DeSantis' best chance of winning Virginia is to get all those Beltway bureaucrats behind him once they see he is as much an establishment corporate globalist as they are ... hence my prior comment that the last thing we need is another Ivy League lawyer in the White House who has never worked outside government in his life.
