Go back to 2012 — the last time the GOP ran a “conventional” Republican candidate for President. Which states is DeSantis going to win in 2024 that Romney lost in 2012? The only one that stands out to me is Ohio, and that isn’t good enough.Nobody cares about 2012. We’re not the same country as we were then. Romney was an uninspiring candidate who didn’t really want to win running against a fairly popular incumbent.
The real question is what states will DeSantis win that Trump won in 2016 —but lost in 2020.
I don’t care about 2012 either. But the U.S. still has the same 50 states plus the District of Columbia today that I had back then — and you don’t win a presidential election without winning enough of them to get 270 electoral votes.
