The UN and the WEF exist for the same reason: to provide professional bureaucrats with expense accounts and income that their mediocre talents couldn't otherwise earn.
The Members of WEF can be found online. Many bureaucrats yes, as in various government ministers, but also heads of state, and most of the world’s powerful people in government, finance, industry and technology. Lots of US Congressmen and Senators as well. Interesting list, worth googling it.

With all due respect, though I agree that they exist to provide income for themselves, I believe they also they exist to eliminate national sovereignty of individual countries.
If you think they have no impact, I would ask have you been to a gas station or grocery store lately?
