It’s true, for sure...I do the same thing. Watch for the new, loose dirt, stand quietly with a pitchfork. I get a lot of them this way.

Victor Scissor traps. About $10 at Home Depot. Dig a hole in the run and put a 3-4” stick in the middle. This will force the mole to go over it and increase the likelihood of tripping the trap. I killed about 50 of them one year on my one acre lot.

Forget gum, Molecat worms and castor oil spray. The spray will move them to your neighbors but if you stop, they come back. I never used them but my neighbor swore by the Talpirid mole worms. About $50 but it’s what the professional exterminators use. I battled them for 15 years with the scissor traps. They breed all year round and follow earthworms below the frost line in winter. Only constant killing will help. I had about a dozen of the scissor traps and would put some in my neighbors yard to help them. If you have kids or pets, put a 5 gallon bucket over the trap with a brick on top.

Get a terrier for moles. A hungry cat for mice and chipmunks.

Yep. Dachshunds are also effective against moles. They sniff 'em out, then poke their snoots right down into the mole tunnels. You'll see them come up chewing.

Fool proof way. Buy 7 apples, 6 cookies and a hammer. On day 1 put an apple and a cookie by the hole. Same thing on days 2 to 6....apple and a cookie. On day 7 get your hammer and ONLY put out an apple. When the mole comes up and says “Hey, where’s the cookie?” bash him with the hammer.

Maine coon cats are good swimmers. They love the water. People with sailboats take them on their boats all the time. They dive into the water, swim around, check out other boats and return to climb up a big rope hanging over the side. Wonderful cats.

LOL Great response.

We need you to come back on a Friday or Saturday night. A long weekend would be best. We have a lot of those pesky males.

"... Wonderful cats...."

I agree.
I was never really a 'cat person' before my Maine coon Fluffy.
Now, almost three decades later, I'm seriously considering another.
I don't now have a dog - or any other pet - so why not?

Fluffy was 'One Cool Cat'!

Well, it’s an ugly solution at first, but it is very effective. I gave my beagle to my daughter, and she lets him roam the farm with an invisible fence. His first week, he killed 10 moles, dug them right out of the yard. They would find 2-3 moles a day on their front steps.

Now, 3 years later, they have no moles. He hasn’t found one in some time. They have had to fill the holes in, and seed them, but finally their yard looks great. And right now, there are 4000 beagles that need homes. Just a thought.

Rat terriers.

They are like terminators for rodents.

Best way, take old stereo speakers, wrap them in plastic and bury them in the yard. Play 70s disco music through those speakers, non stop. It has been done and they vacate the premises

Tried Juicy Fruit for 3-4 years. Only seemed to make matters worse.

Had a cat that caught a couple (separate times). Threw them up later that day. Never caught another in 15 years.

I’ve been going with Tomcat poison worms. Seems to do the trick, but it doesn’t guarantee more wont move in.

Damn did not catch that. But, got me thinking, I may put a red light on it and see if any of my neighbors get the joke.
