This is the worst summer I can remember in southeast Texas. We’ve been in the hundreds almost every day since the beginning of June. Looks like climate change to me. We have a climate, and it changes. It’s what climates do.
How’s the St Augustine grass doing?
Agreed. We are still in the Modern Warming Period, which has been going on since the 1800's. Even if we have minor lowering of temps for a few years (as the few years following 2016), zooming out over the next 2 to 4 centuries we're still in a gradual warming period. I say it's got 2 to 4 centuries because the last few warm periods each lasted 4 to 6 centuries (and our current one is already 2 centuries old). Then we'll have another cooling period.
If you zoom out even further, you'll see that we're still on the downtrend of the Holocene Epoch (which topped out around 7,500 years ago, or 5,500 BC). Each warming-to-cooling-back-to-warming cycle is a hair cooler than the prior. Basically, our Modern Warm Period is relevant, but not the end-of-earth warmageddon the Dims make it out to be.
You can see what I'm talking about in the black curvy line below. The Dims want you to focus on the past 200 years only.
