Heating up in Europe too. Over 1000 death according to Daily Mail. 105 is predicted weather for London on Tuesday. Back in the day I remember when after three or four really hot days we use to get sticks and carve our names in the tar on the road.

I think it was as recent as 2011 when we broke the record for consecutive 100 degree days. But this one seems to be higher temps. this is bad.....

Please pray for my son Jonah. He works outside and will be exposed to extreme heat this week. Please pray he stays hydrated and cool. He drinks Gatorade and ice cold water during the day . Hoping he’ll be ok. Thx!

We’ve even had highways buckling from the heat

I don’t know how they did it. I have read though that the invention of Air Conditioning actually changed the demographics of the country. Suddenly the south was livable in the summer. My hero is Mr. Carrier. Inventor of AC!

Prayers for Jonah. May God bless him and protect him. Great name too. I indentify with Jonah in many ways. He hated those people and did’n want to go preach to them. And then he got mad when God saved them. I’m gonna be mad with God if I see Joy Behar in heaven.....:)

Wasn’t like 15 or 20 years ago that Texas had a straight month or so of temps over 100?

Watermelons, like field corn, do like heat, but when it gets over 95 degrees, they are stressed - and thirsty.

We’re still in the same heatwave that killed thousands of cattle in Kansas - the high pressure heat dome is endless

How’s the weather in Indiana?

Wisconsin here. It was really hot here today. I like the heat, as opposed to our cold, but I got pretty tired in the sun today. I got a lot done in some shady spots. I planted a fern, and I sprayed the oxalis and crabgrass. Some for the second time. Crabgrass loves heat. Just loves it, especially when it sees the bluegrass go heat dormant.

Do you have a garden? A big lawn?

Do tell. I am a caring person.

Mexican Beer Salt sold in the stores. Pickle flavor is good as is lemon lime.

I will be working outside Monday. I pour some into my cup every water break once sweating begins.

Off wiki re 1980: In Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, high temperatures exceeded 100 °F (38 °C) a total of 69 times, including a record 42 consecutive days from June 23 to August 3,[4] of which 28 days were above 105, and five days above 110.

I was living here is Dallas through that summer.

Lots of stats like that but the odd thing is I can't find the one that give the number of days in a row that it did not get BELOW 100.

It was something around 8-10 days and it was brutal. I checked the weather calendars, They indicate it never happened But I was right here in Dallas when it did.

I had always wondered when we would get hit like this again.

1980. 2011. Now.

.

We won’t break the 1980 consecutive over 100 days - Thursday was about 20 degrees cooler cause of the storms.

Say grace over that!

Born in Texas, live in La... so I care about the local weather but do not give a crap about your weather. In a few months you will be freezing your balls off and folks will be playing golf down here.
