The $100 million retrofit project was supposed to keep the building from sinking and tilting more and stabilize property values.Stabilize the property itself, and the values will take care of themselves.

Really? A guy named Hamburger is running the show? Not being inspired here. Phone call-—Captain Hamburger pick up the phone. Captain Hamburger should call the Florida guys who fixed that condo. Or maybe the Florida guys who collapsed the bridge on the highway? Or maybe the Italians-—they know how to handle a crooked building. My suggestion is to drive those 100 million dollar bills straight into the foundation sideways until the whole thing straightens up. Cheap fix. All they need is a lot of hammers.

Maybe this building was never supposed to last?
Maybe contractors with bent noses stole everything but the kitchen sink and put high insurance policies on it banking on the Big One to cover all the fraud.
Or maybe I’ve watched too many Sopranos reruns....
