UTVs with antitank guided missiles have been a staple in the conflict.
The Drive reports that the Ukrainian military has been using UTVs, thought to be Polaris Rangers and Polaris MRZR Alphas, armed with Stugna-P antitank guided missiles to combat Russian tanks. These antitank guided missiles, or ATGMs, can be mounted on vehicles, shoulder fired, or launched from the ground.
There have been reports of Ukraine’s military using UTVs as far back as 2019, before the current conflict with Russia. Some of these have been seen with ATGMs mounted on them while others seem to just be used as transportation. The guided missiles have been extremely important for Ukraine in the war, and have been one of the most popular methods of combating Russian tanks, along with US-made Javelin missiles.
The missiles can be guided through a remote terminal or by a laser beam directed at the intended target. The weapon requires a crew of two to four people to operate, and can be used remotely up to 50 meters away.
Ukraine isn’t the only country to have used these vehicles—Polaris in 2020 signed a $109 million contract with the US Special Operations Forces to supply MRZR Alphas and Dagor A1s.
I don’t know, I bet a smaller missile would. That and a full auto light machine gun. They’d make that Grizzly growl!
Its got to be over $47 billion by now.
Nice idea. As long as it wouldn’t make it front end heavy. That 660 is a torque-y beast.

As of 2018, over $50b a year was being spent on the War on Terror, mostly in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

The problem with ATGMs in Ukraine has been that the Ukrainians rarely get in range of a Russian tank etc until they have been pummeled with wave after wave of artillery fire.
The arty is directed by tactical drones flying at 10-15K’ which renders the UAF in their trenches pretty much naked.
Putting ATGMs on UTVs won’t change this equation much.
Granted, arty is 5 times the range of the small missiles, but swarms of UTVs might have a much better change getting into range quickly. I just thought this is yet another interesting adaptation of vehicle usage.
It would be nice if the guy could fit both legs in that vehicle, but it’s war. You make do.
Shoot-n-scoot sounds good. I was officially a dragon gunner in the mid-1980s. That was a shoot-n-remain-seated-for-10-seconds-to-give-the-enemy-a-sporting-chance-to-kill-you-first system. Shoot-n-scoot is probably better tactics.
I knew a lot of Frenchmen who were fighting in Chad during that era, and they loved it, and they loved the higher pay of being in a combat zone.
mini Halo Warthog.

They still will not have any effect on Vlad’s murderous artillery. If you haven’t noticed, Vlad has switched tactics, the last Ukie soldier’s interview stated they are now never able to even see a Russkie and are constantly falling back from the artillery, all their casualties are from artillery and lack of medics.
New developments, the words from the Serbian President, the Ukie war cheerleaders will not be pleased. Serbia remains neutral in this current clown show.

Polaris Ranger UTV’s are great for work and fun.
I used a professional Construction model on my 60-acre property for 17 years. Dragged logs, used ATV attachments to cut grass, disc, and plowed snow and hauled deer from the woods. Good all-around vehicle.
With or without the Stugna ATGM system?
Toyota Wars in Africa. Lots of various technicals.
Well, with the missiles the price will probably double.
I’m more a Shoulder Fire
Kinda Guy.
Pass!
I’m sure we can get you a good deal by equipping it with some less expensive missiles, perhaps on e-bay.
Man, that’d be great! I kinda went broke with all the custom electronics and all, so cheap rockets would fit the budget.
