Seward native Jesse Rood broke the axe throwing world record on Friday at the opening ceremonies of the 2022 Cornhusker State Games with a throw of 90 ft.
The previous record was 75 ft. and Rood smashed that with his throw of 90 ft. at Seacrest Field. After breaking the record, Rood attempted to shatter the record he just broke by landing a throw of 120 ft.
Rood did not get one of the axes to stick from 120 ft. out, but he did come close.
This is the kind of thing that Spetsnaz spend all their training time on, except they do it while doing a backward somersault.

I good firearm with bullets is far superior to any of them.
Back when TV was actually worth watching...
Seward Nebraska. This is the Cornhusker State Games. It is the state of Nebraska’s annual organized athletic competition (although they have billiard and dart competitions and a bunch of other stuff as well) Seacrest Field is in Lincoln and is where the Lincoln Public Schools play their football games. Seward Nebraska is about 30 miles west of Lincoln. Seacrest is where the record was set.
Oddly enough I saw the country’s possibly most prolific serial rapist, Bill Cosby, do a comedy set at the Cornhusker State Games Opening Ceremonies back in the late 80’s or early 90’s at that same field.
