Reason #11 why I don’t fly commercial anymore, since TWA 800 was shot down in July, 1996.
I would almost guess I saw that plan in St. Louis.
I traveled through Lambert regularly and there was ALWAYS a Paris-bound 747 at a gate opposite my plane, which was usually an MD-82/84.
I had accumulated so many miles I had enough for a first-class round trip for two Europe.
I didn’t redeem them in time, unfortunately.
Or maybe, fortunately.
Because I probably would have been on a connecting flight to a 747 out of Lambert.
As it is, I’ve never gotten to ride in a 747.
My favorite aircraft, the Lockheed L-1011 is all but gone now.
You mean the plane which had on manifest ¤
- one of the top US Navy surface warfare officers
- 3 or 4 molecular biologist working for some of the world’s most advanced bio research
- 3 or 4 senior investment bankers, including from New York and Israel, 1 was Israeli involved in global projects from the US
- a high profile Muslim MD from Gross Point and Dearborn Michigan, who some believe was heavily involved with the Muslim Brotherhood...
There were many very interesting people on that plane, just from their stated titles. Others had job titles redacted, a couple were family members of European politicians.
And hundreds of witness accounts of a missile moving very fast into the sky and then a mid air explosion.
You mean that flight —
I knew someone on Flight 800. He was only in his 20s going to Paris to attend a wedding; very sad.
Do you think someone in the navy screwed the pooch, or someone with a shoulder fired stinger got it?
I never bought that story about some wire in the fuel tank or what ever they were selling.
Did you ever read NIGHT FALL by Nelson DeMille?
