I would almost guess I saw that plan in St. Louis.
I traveled through Lambert regularly and there was ALWAYS a Paris-bound 747 at a gate opposite my plane, which was usually an MD-82/84.
I had accumulated so many miles I had enough for a first-class round trip for two Europe.
I didn’t redeem them in time, unfortunately.
Or maybe, fortunately.
Because I probably would have been on a connecting flight to a 747 out of Lambert.
As it is, I’ve never gotten to ride in a 747.
My favorite aircraft, the Lockheed L-1011 is all but gone now.
My favorite has always been the Lockheed SR-71, but they never had enough room for me :/
I have a cousin who went down in the L-1011 that crashed in the Everglades in the 70’s. Broke her back, and spent a long time in the hospital, but she made it.
I had to get to STL to connect to SUX (my favorite 3 letter airport code)
I agree with you on the L-1011. I think I only rode one once, from SFO to DFW, but that thing was quiet and comfortable.
If you want to fly a 747 in the USA, you might have to fly Lufthansa from Denver to Germany. Not sure anyone else is flying them with passengers in the USA anymore.
I miss the L-1011.
