Would be most appreciative for any advice. Need to add accessories like crash bars, skid plates, tank and top bag, windshield extender, etc. If youse guys have experience, your thoughts would be most welcome.
I considered a KLR 650 (too heavy and still needed doo-hickey and thermobob) and several other small "adventure" bikes but finally settled on this. Love it so far.
Have about 300 miles so far, mostly practicing riding in sand and standing.
Several years ago, I owned a cruiser but have never done any off-road motorcycling so still need a lot of practice.
That said, I do ride a mountain bike several times a week and that translates a wee bit.
Make sure the organ donor part of your driver’s license is up to date.

I loved that street legal on road/off road bike. I drove it through the desert, on the highways to Ketchum and the Indian Hot Springs, and to runs to Boise just to get McDonald's french fries (there were no McDonald's in Mtn. Home at that time.)
Enjoy it, sir!
WEAR LEATHER!!!
Do you really need to own this vehicle?
Aren't the public transportation options available in your area adequate? Maybe you would do well to instead invest your time in advocating for better municipal bus services!
Don't you realize that you are harming the environment?
Does anyone really need a vehicle of this kind?
I am 62 years old, and don't even have a drivers license! Never had the need for one!
What about a bicycle, instead?
Maybe you should check your White privilege!
Just thought that I'd like to brighten your day with a few, choice pieces of advice!
You may go now!
Regards,
It's Adventure Riders and they'll jump on your queries like butterflies to a banana. Once you join, post your questions to the "Perfect Line, etc" forum or to the "Thumper" forum. "Thumper" is dedicated to single cylinder bikes like yours.
Some of those guys are dedicated. As in, riding from Alaska to Brazil, type of stuff. They'll help you.
And no high backrests. That combination put me in a wheelchair.
Thx much for that!
All that is one of the reasons I bought this bike...to have a way to get around during the zombie (i.e., Democrat) apocalypse.
I live in an area where there are thousands of miles of beautiful country roads (mostly dirt) begging for discovery and exploration. And, at my age, speed isn't an objective.
Added a KLX300SM to my stable last summer and now wish I’d done it sooner.
Loads of fun to ride, reliable and easy to work on. And not too heavy to pick up.
Suzuki makes some cool vehicles I wish we had access to
Seeing a HiLux survive (barely) the abuse Top Gear throw at it was good TV.
Cool scooter! Looks like fun.
I’ll stick to my 2012 BMW R1200RT, though... More comfy.
Wear a helmet.
Learn to gear down and brake in an emergency stop situation.
My bike should be able to get to places my truck can't. I'm going to mount my GoPro to my helmet to record my travels.
Bail before you hit anything big - your bike will act like a hammer between you and whatever you're going to hit, so you're better off leaving. Also remember that spiky tires work well in the dirt but are very marginal on roads, particularly in heavy rain. I used to have a Norton P11 Scrambler and it would spontaneously change directions when I hit a tight turn and hit slippery stuff.
Make sute you fill out your organ donor card.
