‘Their population is ignorant, so they believe the rest of the world is as well.’

It’s because they don’t have maps.

Russian officials should quit issuing nuclear threats - they are not credible because no one beleives they will commit their own country to suicide, and everyone knows that the mass suicide of Russia would be the end reult of such threats if Russia moved from threats to attacks.

My dad was on the Polaris missile guidance system team in the late 50s. It was amazing that could hit targets back then without accurate target coordinates. Maybe their CEP claims were exaggerated by a few orders of magnitude.

"September 24, 1958. General Electric delivered first prototype of MIT-developed Polaris guidance system."

As regards your Rand organization link.

Evreryone needs to read the Rand organization editors note at the top of the report.

It says:

“Editor’s Note, April 2022: We encourage you to explore this research brief and the full report that it is based on. However, because Russian state media entities and individuals sympathetic to Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine have mischaracterized this research in recent weeks, we also encourage you to explore this helpful resource on Russia’s “firehose of falsehood” approach to propaganda and our research on “Truth Decay,” which is a phenomenon that is driven in part by the spread of disinformation.”

Besides being trolls for Putin, the biggest disinformation is that the Rand report is about official U.S. and NATO policies and actions (which it is not), instead of what it is - a Rand research that uses various scenarious of policies that the west could use against PUTIN. None of it identifies policies implemented by NATO and the U.S.

What you described is the MAD doctrine (mutually assured destruction).

It worked for many decades for both sides and will probably work now.

The thing is—it only takes one miscalculation or even error for stuff to go sideways.

There are no guarantees in this life.

“Yeah, the US/NATO has been focused on crushing Russia for a long time. The only surprise is how long it took Russia to act on it.”

Even if the West is innocent as can be (which I do not believe) all it takes is a coup within Russia (that the Neocons seem to want) and some fanatical Russian general to launch a nuclear war.

The world is not a safe place—and calling Russia names does not make it safer.

Rand: The very center of the neocon’s viper pit.

Plenty of their government contracted "influencers" here doing their thing, too. On the frankenshots, muh ukraine, hunter is really not a criminal, Trump hurt my feelings, etc...

Because a kid in 4th grade couldn’t list out potential targets and find them on a map?

How many folks in the USA can find anything on a map these days?

“ Our current National government is stupid, corrupt and evil.”

Which does at least give some small comfort in the Russians obviously suggesting a decapitation strike…

used to be a nuke target ~15mi from here, in a way, it was comforting... a millisecond of bright light and it’d be over

15 miles out from a nuke strike, you’re ok. Other than the long term effects of radioactive fallout, depending on prevailing winds.

I’m 400 miles from DC and should be OK provided they don’t nuke during a Nor’easter or use a Tsar Bomba.

I live in New England. There are probably a dozen “biolabs” within 50 miles of my house.

The biolab Bullshit was fodder for weak minds.
