I drove a school bus years ago and had a route in a primarily Yaqui Indian and Mexican area. A little 3rd grade girl got on the bus one morning, came up the steps, and said to me,
“My grandmother doesn’t like White people.”
I said something to her like, “Oh...ok” and just wished her a good day at school today. The girl would be in her early thirties now. I remember it distinctly. I wonder if she does.
