White guy here.
I drove a school bus years ago and had a route in a primarily Yaqui Indian and Mexican area. A little 3rd grade girl got on the bus one morning, came up the steps, and said to me,
“My grandmother doesn’t like White people.”
I said something to her like, “Oh...ok” and just wished her a good day at school today. The girl would be in her early thirties now. I remember it distinctly. I wonder if she does.
It’s like little muzzie children are taught from day 1 to hate Jews.
That’s about the best answer you can give someone.
What else do you say without escalating the situation?
Actually, you did quite a bit for that little girl.
Consciously or unconsciously, she was watching to see how you reacted to being told that her granny hated you.
You responded politely.
That might not have seemed like much to you at the time, but not returning anger/hatred for anger/hatred is a profoundly good (and Christian) reaction.
You were saying to the little girl, "well, I don't hate your granny (or you) back."
That made you a hero.
