The Chi-Coms call those straits “their” ocean. There is a long arm of aggressive behaviour against the Japanese, and yes against the Vietnamese (see: Cambodia naval base being built by Chi-Coms. To harrass the Vietnamese). Trump really irritated the chi-coms and almost got the Norks to align away from being chi-com slaves.
The chi-coms, btw— infected Kim Jong Un with Covid— so he would die and they’d replace him with his psycho whacko sister— a real evil person.
Japan is so completely devoid of religion, there are great swaths of people that yearn for it and about the same amount that have utter contempt for those who yearn for it.
My observations were Shinto is more of a touristy thing/tax dodge than actual religion.
