I was driving down a country road several years ago when a large garter snake landed on the hood of my car from the sky. What a surprise! I looked up and saw an eagle who apparently lost the snake from its talons. Scared my wife.

It happened here on Highway 95 in Arizona, only it was a red-tailed hawk and a western diamond-back rattlesnake.
I wonder how often it happens.

Me too! I have seen about 5 in the last month on my property, usually see one or two per year. Not that big, but I did see a shed of one that was 3 feet. Gardner snakes and Bull snakes mostly.
