Filmmakers move production out of Arkansas over state's abortion trigger law Arkansas' trigger law bans nearly all abortions in the state, and does not allow exceptions in cases of rape and incest

A film production company is relocating from Arkansas in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision last month to overturn Roe v. Wade, which now allows the GOP-led state's abortion trigger law to take effect.

The movie, "Eric Larue," will now instead film in North Carolina, where abortion is still legal with some restrictions, FOX 16 in Little Rock reported.

Arkansas' trigger law bans nearly all abortions in the state, and does not allow exceptions in cases of rape and incest. The law only permits the procedure when it is necessary to save the life of the mother in a medical emergency.

The law makes it a felony, punishable by a fine of up to $100,000 or 10 years in prison, or both, for doctors who perform abortions. The restriction does not target abortion patients

In North Carolina, on the other hand, abortion remains legal even after the Supreme Court’s ruling. However, a state law that has previously been blocked in court could prohibit abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

And the state already has some abortion restrictions, including a mandated three-day waiting period before a woman can receive the procedure, a ban on the use of telemedicine to administer abortion medication and the requirement that a patient must first undergo an ultrasound before obtaining an abortion.

Arkansas, a hotbed of filmmaking. I am sure the state won’t miss the revenue.

The last movie I saw in a theater was Iron Man, my son wanted to go. I won’t miss this movie.......

“Janice LaRue is the mother of Eric, a 17-year-old boy who shot and killed three of his classmates in school. Now, three months after Eric has been jailed, Janice has not yet gone to see him, nor has she found any way to deal with what happened or to show herself in her community. She goes to her Presbyterian pastor—a man who seems to see religion as a kind of therapy—to ask for guidance. He tries to convince her to come to a meeting he has set up with the mothers of two of the murdered boys, but she resists. Janice talks about the meeting with her husband, who, since the murder, has become “born again.” He argues for her attending a meeting at his church instead and giving her burden to Jesus. Angered by his blind faith and inflexibility, she decides to go to her pastor’s meeting, which quickly spirals out of control, ending with Janice being verbally attacked by one of the mothers and defending herself by recalling how the other boys had taunted and hurt Eric. Janice finally visits Eric in jail and tells him that she believes he “did the right thing” in killing those boys.”

Lol, sounds like a heartwarming family movie

So he is making a film (the usual hollywood lecture, I’m, sure) depicting the trauma of a school shooting, and protesting for the right to kill babies.

It appears to be about a kid who shoots and kills three of his classmates. Just what America needs.

Is the film going to be shown or marketed in communist China? Does it receive any money from China?

It’s a free country. Arkansas can ban abortions. Film companies can move their productions. North Carolina can restrict abortions somewhat. This is real democracy in action, unchained from a bad precedent.

Why are so many films being made outside of California nowadays? If they are going to say that they need to make political statements on laws and policies in other places, California is a mecca for every conceivable liberal law and policy. Why don’t they just stay in Hollywood for all of their movies and TV shows, to endorse the liberalism of California?

Since they want to make political statements with where they operate, wouldn’t they make a strong political statement by endorsing their home base as the best place to make all movies and TV shows???

What’s the point here? Do they expect Arkansas officials so say OMG, Hollywood is abandoning us, we better pass a liberal abortion law so we can get more Hollywood action here? Really, what is the goal, and what do they hope to accomplish with these actions?

A production company? What production company? I suppose people can boycott their movie if they want to play at that game.
