In presidential politics, many of us seem to be enchanted with pretty faces. As was earlier true with John Kennedy, Gary Hart, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Martin O’Malley, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Andrew Cuomo, Gavin Newsom is the latest “pretty face” in American politics who not so quietly believes his best qualification to become POTUS is his mug.

John Edwards was a lot prettier than the ungainly John Kerry.

Cuomo might have got the looks in his own family, but that's not saying much.
As young men, Ronald Reagan and Mitt Romney were better looking than any of the Dems on that list.
Key words are "as young men". We laugh at the Rats for pushing octogenarian after octogenarian candidate at us, but our side is not much better.
*As a side note, Reagan was no pretty boy. But he sure knew how to hold an audience captive.* Think BJ.

Obama was groomed from the time he was 10 years old. He had the ‘it’ factor. I’m sure they’re looking for the next one. Buttigeg won’t do. Not pretty enough and taking it up the butt might feel good but it won’t help.
Those Newsom ads are like the visit California ads that used to be on TV. Schwartzenegger and his then wife were in one of them. The bloom is off the rose and people don't think of California in that way. It's not the Magic Kingdom anymore.

Cuomo was emotional. Appealed to women. He was smart enough to not run. That ‘84 convention won him a lot of fans but one could see that he was thin skinned. He knew his button could easily be pushed after dishing it out. His offspring points to the acorn not falling far from the tree.
To be fair, President Carter did mediate the 1978 Camp David Accords which resulted in a formal peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. For better or worse it is still in effect 42 years later.
I really don’t think that the average voter is much beyond his or her high school Class President contest when it comes to voting as an adult. Basically, it boils down to a popularity contest.

If it’s Newsom in ‘24 the GOP would be better off countering with DeSantis. Same generation and quite a contrast on how each state is run.
There was a reason they called John the “Silk Pony.” That said, an utterly despicable excuse for a man, IMO.

Newsom is a total lifestyle swinger. Trust me on that. He just has a greasy slimy swinger look to him
