When TV was good....
Posted on 07/09/2022 8:48:40 PM PDT by Kevin in California
Had a long day today and am exhausted and relaxing with a nice cold beer(s) watching some Rifleman espisodes. Man, this was the good ole days when TV was good. Now, it's garbage on TV.
What are your favorite old time TV shows?

BTW, our children will never understand terms like “Vertical Hold”, “Horizontal Hold”, the UHF knob, or even “Color” and “Tint”. This brings back memories. On the back of our TVs was a knob that you had to turn to stabilize the picture when something like the below happened. I also remember using a metal coat hanger as a UFH antenna.

If you have streaming capability, I recomment Acorn and Britbox.
Both offer excellent old programming from UK, Canada Australia and even New Zealand.

Love the old game shows.
What’s My Line?,password,To Tell The Truth and I’ve Got a Secret.
Can download them all on evil YouTube.
Honestly, in my not so humble opinion, they are more entertaining than modern TV.

My personal favorite was Match Game, but I really liked Password and a few others. The Pluto TV app has an old game show network (free), and I rewatch the old shows sometimes.

I will assume you lived near Hartford or the east side of the state. We never had an issue getting channel 9 living near Waterbury.
No, Wallingford. The problem is that thew Channel 8 WNHC/WTNH tower in New Haven (East Rock) is in direct line of sight between Wallingford and the broadcast antennae on the Empire State Building in NYC. Once you get past 6 VHF on the dial, strong adjacent channels can interfere with each other.
The Yule Log was WPIX Channel 11, which we got in with light snow.

Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were good shows with memorable characters. I’m not really into watching old TV, though.

Ask the teens if they know of vacuum tubes.
They do if they are into electric guitars.

Nobody admits to being a fan of The Three Stooges. They practically raised my brothers and me. Those guys had a pretty hard life. As strange as it seems, they weren’t drunk when they filmed those shows. Moe and the various Curlys, and Shimp, were brothers. Larry teamed up with Moe in the early 1920s.

Don’t even get me started.
I will, however, mention Johnny Carson.

Yes!!!
The Rifleman is my current obsession..
PlutoTV has a 24/7 Rifleman channel.
Also, give me Twilight Zone all day as well!
All those late 50’s/early 60’s shows!
