(CNN)For many Black women, the reversal of Roe v. Wade last month not only stripped them of bodily autonomy, but created another barrier to economic security and choosing the course of their future.
For 49 years, women have had the right to terminate a pregnancy without needing to justify it, giving some a chance to pursue their educational goals, career aspirations and start families when they were in stable situations.
This has especially benefited Black women who continue to fight for an equal place in the US. Black women are three times more likely than White women to die of pregnancy-related complications; encounter racism from health care providers at higher rates; face unequal pay; and are more likely than their White counterparts to lack health insurance.
Now advocates say millions will lose access to abortion care because their state has restricted it and they can't afford to travel for the procedure.
CNN spoke with five Black women about their decision to get an abortion in the past and why they say the fall of Roe v. Wade could have devastating consequences.

Semika Shaw is dead now. She died of a botched abortion done by a black man named Kermit Gosnell.
Kermit Gosnell is in prison now as he should be but not for Semika's death.
Does CNN do a story on Semika Shaw and tell her story? How she lived and died? How "safe" those legal abortions really were? No they don't, I have to be the one telling you now.
RIP Semika Shaw. RIP Karnamaya Mongar (Gosnell's other victim)
Well, the answers can be of course are for these women to avoid having sex with a man who does not wear a condom or practice abstinence until in a marriage or serious relationship and continue to use contraception unless really and truly wanting a child, but you are certainly not going to hear that from INGSOC media.
One third of their daily routine has been stolen from them. I guess without abortion they’ll have to split their time equally between busting up Chuck E Cheeses and having sex with any old hood rat.
On the bright side, more kids means more birthday parties at Chuck E Cheeses and other designated fields of battle.
I was just going to say, we are not discussing brain surgery here.
We've gone from "I just want my race to be ignored" to "I want special treatment because of my race."
It often appears that the slaves didn't want to abolish slavery after all. They just wanted to swap places with their owners.
“It’s always about race, isn’t it? “
This time yes. Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood to wipe out “the negro population” she said so as much in a letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble.
I was wrong to say it's always about race.
It's not always about race.
I should have said that with "some people" or at least "sometimes" it's frequently about race.
It's early here and I'm still waking up.;-)
Perhaps black women need to stop using abortion as “birth control for procrastinators”.

“Black women say they are invisible in abortion rights fight. ‘We are still forgotten within all of this’.”
Could that be,simply, becasue this is NOT ABOUT RACE. For ‘black women’ to believe themselves to be forgotten would indicate they beleive themselves to be validated by their race.
The only racists left are those who insist on keeping race as a criterion for anything.
just go tear up a restaurant or something..
Yes,Margaret Sanger was never a fan of those pesky darkies reproducing so it’s wrong that they should be reproducing today.
Newsflash to them ‘black women’: As intended by Margaret Sanger. Get with the program, kkthx. /s
I just shake my head. From these and other writings you would come away with the impression that pregnancy happens due to cosmic rays or something.
Be more responsible in your actions? That doesn’t sell newspapers.
We don’t have a racial problem as much as a cultural problem. The left uses race as a wedge to keep groups agitated and in conflict, and as a weapon to keep others from telling the truth about it.
Oh sweetie! You aren’t forgotten. Black women are PP’s target audience. That’s why they place their clinics right in the middle of your neighborhoods.
Well, Nicquel, When you are no supreme, you lack clout
It is a racial problem with people who hate others because of their race, regardless of how they came by this hatred.
“(CNN)For many Black women, the reversal of Roe v. Wade last month not only stripped them of bodily autonomy, but created another barrier to economic security and choosing the course of their future.”
Blacks are about 13% of the US population but get about 37% of the abortions. Margaret Sanger must be smiling from her grave.
