A Texas cancer survivor who suffered three miscarriages was banned from aborting a longed-for pregnancy in her home state on discovering the fetus was too disabled to survive.
Kailee DeSpain, 28, and her husband were forced to make a 10 hour trip to New Mexico in February after a 16 week scan revealed their son Finley had an unsurvivable condition called triploidy.
Carrying the pregnancy to full-term would have put DeSpain at risk of potentially fatal complications, but Texas's so-called heartbeat abortion bill bans almost all abortions except for those vaguely defined as 'medical emergencies.'
DeSpain was told hers did not fit that criteria, and instead set out on a lengthy journey to a neighboring state, where she was branded a murderer by pro-life protesters on arriving at the abortion clinic.
Her doctors had advised she seek termination after her 16-week ultrasound revealed her son, Finley, was not going to survive due to several serious health conditions.
The couple was devastated by the news but opted to end the pregnancy in an effort to prevent potentially life-threatening complications.
Now, DeSpain continues to share her story and fight for women's rights, alleging she will 'not know a single day of peace until I can govern my own body, and everything that goes on inside of it, in the state I once loved.'

You are so very welcome, Sir :-)
They omitted the part where she was forced to drive over hundreds of kittens and puppies, as they screamed their last breath in agony. And then their little bodies were roasted over a pit fire with green Hatch peppers, before being served on fajitas with lard sauce to unsuspecting tourists.
I’m fine with that. But I’m gonna side with the health and safety of my wife in a situation like that.
Thanks for reminding me of that option. The poor, unborn child certainly had life stacked against him.
Such a heart warming story about a woman who persevered to kill her child.
it's safer to deliver a baby, especially at an early stage. At 16 weeks, the baby in the article was 7 & a half inches and 5 ounces. From stories of botched abortions, I'd hesitate to claim they're safe. I think the key is having a doctor you can trust and they value all life.
Thanks for reminding me of that option. The poor, unborn child certainly had life stacked against him.
Yes, he did.
Absolutely agree. And they never mention being responsible by using birth control or inducing labor. The aim is to devalue life.
What’s the specificity you are talking about?
I know several couples who brought a doomed baby to full term. Poor little things were loved and adored for the days or weeks they lived (one was stillborn), and buried with tears and dignity. All have a little tombstone recording their brief time on earth, before they went to heaven.
“a single day of peace until I can govern my own body, and everything that goes on inside of it,”

Whats going into your body by your choice is whats making you get pregnant all the time. Stop procreating so damn much!
You are so very welcome, Sir, too :-)
Still I think neither of you has done anything wrong. In some cases, there are such utterly, dreadful choices are the only option.
All that can be done now is to pray.
I lost my little nephew 12 years ago (due to a genetic defect, too, but he eventually passed in my SIL’s womb due to natural causes, just weeks before the birth date) and it’s still sore.
The year after, my mother passed away from brain cancer, and my father never got over the loss of his wife and grandson. He spent his twilight years taken care by a nurse and by me, until it was “his turn” - at least he passed on with a blissful smile on his face.
Sorry for this OT comment, but I must admit that it isn’t always easy for me to be “strong and carry on”. This is why I have so much sympathy for all those who have to say good-bye to their loved ones :-(
But still I believe that the words in the Good Book are true, and one day we shall meet all of our loved ones again in the splendor and glory of the Heavenly Jerusalem, Zion, the City of our God.
Amen.
Sixteen weeks into her pregnancy she and her husband learned that Finley had a rare disease called triploidy. He was also missing a kidney, had a heart with no valves and an improperly developed brain. How did his heart beat if it had no valves?
Also, she claims the pregnancy was damaging her health and possibly killing her. Texas allows abortion in that situation, too.
She made this entire story up to promote her pro-abortion propaganda.
Of course it’s a lie. She claims the heartbeat law prevented her from getting an abortion in Texas, because her son had a heartbeat. She also claims that among his deformities was a heart with no valves. So how was his heart beating?
